Lewtrenchard Manor: A Timeless Treasure, Beautifully Reborn

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Lewtrenchard Manor, now beautifully refurbished and reopened under the care of the Original Collection. This place has always held a special place in my heart, and walking back through its doors felt a little like coming home. The refurbishment has been carried out with such care and respect for the building’s history — every detail feels intentional. The grand character and charm that make Lewtrenchard so unique are still very much alive, but there’s a fresh elegance that makes it feel better than ever.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the warmest, most welcoming staff. Everyone I met was genuinely friendly and accommodating, which only reinforced how special this hotel is to the local community. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s a piece of Devon’s story, and it’s clear the team cares deeply about preserving that.

The interiors are a delight to explore. The grand ballroom feels like stepping into another time, with high ceilings and soft light catching the gleam of polished wood floors. The bedrooms are each beautifully individual, with rich fabrics, plush bedding and elegant antiques creating a sense of timeless luxury. The bathrooms are just as memorable- dramatic and indulgent, with deep bathtubs, gleaming fittings and the kind of space that makes you want to linger a little longer. Everywhere you look, there’s a blend of old-world romance and fresh refinement.

Lewtrenchard is now open again for wedding bookings, and I can’t think of a more magical setting to say “I do.” From the stately rooms to the manicured gardens and the luxury of staying right on site, it offers couples and their guests an unforgettable experience. Being only a short drive from Dartmoor adds to its charm; guests can enjoy the wild beauty of the moor alongside the refined comfort of the manor.

It’s such a joy to see Lewtrenchard Manor thriving again. This is more than just a hotel... it’s a place filled with history, romance and community spirit. The refurbishment has breathed new life into it without losing any of its old-world soul, and I’m so excited to see it welcome guests and wedding parties once more. For me, it was a day filled with both the excitement of capturing beautiful images and personal fondness, and I left feeling inspired, grateful and very much looking forward to my next visit.
