Getting Married in Bude: Wild Beauty, Golden Light & Crashing Waves

ree

If you're dreaming of a wedding by the sea, Bude might just steal your heart. Tucked away on the rugged North Cornwall coast, this charming seaside town has everything you could want for a relaxed, beautiful celebration; sweeping sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, and the kind of golden light that makes everything feel a little more magical.

I recently photographed a wedding shoot at Widemouth Bay, just outside Bude, and it was one of those evenings that felt like a gift. The wind was wild, the waves were crashing, and the light was pure gold. There’s something about this part of the world that feels untamed and romantic - a dream backdrop for anyone looking for natural, storytelling-style wedding photography.

Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a full celebration with all your favourite people, there are some incredible wedding venues near Bude to explore:

  • Launcells Barton – A stunning country house and barn venue just outside Bude, combining rustic charm with modern elegance.

  • The Falcon Hotel – A classic venue in the centre of Bude, overlooking the canal and close to Summerleaze Beach.

  • Tredudwell Manor – A romantic manor house near the coast with sea views and a peaceful countryside setting (and where me and Chris got married!)

  • Bude Castle – A unique and historic spot right in Bude, with dramatic architecture and sea views.

  • Ash Barton Estate – A relaxed, DIY-friendly venue not far from Bude, great for a laid-back celebration with lots of space.

  • Widemouth Manor – A coastal venue overlooking Widemouth Bay itself — perfect if you want to keep it seaside.

And of course, if you’re after something truly simple and stunning, the beach is always an option. Widemouth Bay is one of my favourites — a long sandy stretch backed by dunes and cliffs, perfect for golden hour portraits and windswept vows.

If you’re planning your wedding in or around Bude and are looking for a wedding photographer in Cornwall who loves natural light, candid moments, and the wildness of the coast, I’d love to chat.

Take a look through the images from my Widemouth Bay shoot - full of windblown hair, bare feet, and soft evening light - and imagine your own story unfolding here.
