Avalen Farm

Tones of Green was a shoot created to explore a wedding trend we’re seeing more of as we look towards 2026: confident use of block colour, with green taking centre stage. I wanted to see what would happen if colour wasn’t treated as a background detail, but as something intentional and leading. Green felt like the obvious choice, rooted in the Cornish landscape and present here in every season.

This shoot was also a chance to bring together a dream team of wedding suppliers from across Cornwall. Working with people who genuinely care about what they do, and about how weddings feel rather than just how they look, made the whole process a real pleasure. It felt collaborative, relaxed and thoughtful from start to finish.

Avalen Farm was the perfect setting because it reflects so much of what I value in wedding venues. The space is calm and open, filled with soft natural light, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Avalen also plant a tree for every wedding they host, and that commitment to sustainability and long-term thinking felt like the perfect foundation for this shoot.

The colour palette focused on layered greens, from softer natural tones through to brighter chartreuse shades, which are set to feature strongly in weddings in 2026. Florals by Brookside Flower Farm played a central role in bringing the palette to life. Using locally grown Cornish foliage felt important, not only for sustainability, but because it reflects what’s naturally available here. It was a reminder that bold, colour-led styling can still be practical, seasonless and grounded.

Lighting was a key part of shaping the atmosphere. As the day moved on, Boheme Lighting introduced chandeliers, adding warmth and intimacy to the space. The glow of the candles softened the greens and created a relaxed, welcoming feel, showing how strong colour choices can still feel refined and wearable for a real wedding day.

Stunning bridal styling was provided by The Dress Barn, who supplied the wedding dress, bridesmaids’ dresses, veil and jewellery. The pieces were chosen to complement the palette rather than compete with it, keeping the overall look calm and cohesive. Hair by Caroline Bridal Hairstylist and makeup by Yaffa by Cein finished the look beautifully, polished but natural, and very much in keeping with the tone of the shoot.

The groom wore a suit from The Cornwall Suit Room, chosen for its contemporary feel and easy wearability. Paper details by Happy Everly After Stationery added texture and softness, while illustrations by Charlotte Chiverton Illustration introduced a personal, hand-drawn element that brought warmth and individuality to the design.

The cake, beautifully created by The Cornish Cakery, echoed the styling of the day and sat comfortably within the colour palette. For the celebratory moments, sparkling wine from Camel Valley Vineyard added a distinctly Cornish touch and a real sense of occasion.

The ceremony element was led by Ceremonies with Natalie, whose relaxed and personal approach reflected the overall feel of the shoot. Audrius Creates captured the day through video, while I enjoyed capturing photographs of the day and all it's details.

At its heart, Tones of Green is about confidence, collaboration and intention. It’s about trusting colour, working with local suppliers and creating weddings that feel connected to their setting and the people behind them. More than anything, it was a joy to create alongside such a talented group of Cornish suppliers, and I hope this shoot offers inspiration for couples who want their wedding to feel thoughtful, modern and truly their own.
